Alumni Spotlight: Joshua Sewordor ’25

Eastern View High School proudly celebrates the accomplishments of alumnus Joshua Sewordor, who played a key role in leading the University of Mary Washington men’s basketball team to the 2026 NCAA Division III National Championship. Sewordor’s impact throughout the season was defined by his consistency, work ethic, and ability to rise to the moment when his team needed him most. As a trusted contributor, he helped anchor a championship run that will be remembered as one of the finest in program history.

During the 2025–26 championship season, Joshua Sewordor provided steady and efficient production for the University of Mary Washington, appearing in all 33 games and averaging 4.1 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per contest. He shot an efficient 43.5% from the field and 38.3% from three-point range while maintaining a strong assist-to-turnover ratio, highlighting his reliability as a ball-handler. In just over 15 minutes per game, Sewordor’s consistent play, smart decision-making, and ability to contribute on both ends of the floor made him a valuable piece of a national championship roster.

Throughout the tournament, Sewordor showcased the same determination and versatility that made him a standout at Eastern View. Whether making crucial defensive stops, controlling the tempo, or contributing timely scoring, his presence on the court elevated those around him. His commitment to team success over individual accolades embodied the culture of championship basketball and was instrumental in navigating the challenges of a deep postseason run.
